Independence Day has celebrated on 15 August, because we know that In 1947, India had independence from the British Empire. The Indian subcontinent by the 17th century has founded by European traders. Jawaharlal Nehru, who was  the first PM of India became On 15 August 1947 and  Indian national flag has been raised by PM of India (Jawaharlal Nehru)at the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi. This is the tradition that on each and every Independence Day, flag has been raised by the prime minister of that country and a speech given by him. By the government, Nation Holiday had been declared on this day. It is observed  that on this holiday in whole India with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events largely organized in India. It is like an occasion and we know that obviously this is great festival of India. Because we became on this day independence, India became independence from the British Empire. So why should we not celebrated like a festival.
On August 15th it has announced by the government of India as a national holiday government offices and schools and distributes sweets schools but no official work is done. 


There are three national holidays in India one is Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on 2 October and 2nd is Republic Day on 26 January, it is holiday in all Indian states. On 15th August, In Prime Minister speech, highlights the past year's achievements, speaks about country’s problems and also gives tribute to the leaders of the India. On Red Fort after the raising the Flag national anthem, "Jana Gana Mana" has sung by all people.
